MDF - Medium Density Fiberboard
MDF is used by PPI in two diverse applications.
As "Thin MDF", in many instances, it is used the same
as hardboard. It can be fabricated and painted with
results similar to most hardboard products. Because MDF forming lines
offer a larger variety of master sheet sizes, yields are often better
than with hardboard, resulting in lower final prices. "Thick
MDF", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1" & 1-1/8" thick, is fabricated, painted
and/or laminated for a variety of furniture, cabinet, fixture, display
and slatwall parts. MDF is stronger and provides a better
surface finish than particleboard. Clear-On-Clear UV finishes, as well
as opaque color matched paint finishes, offer greater variety to
designers, architects and planners over stock melamine and laminate
colors.
