What is Cempo?
Cempo is a building system consisting of
Portland cement and Recycled Polystyrene. A
series of channels run horizontally, vertically
and diagonally throughout the Cempo forms.
These channels, which are spaced 16 inches
center, are filled with structural concrete
grout and rebar. This combination working
together allows the Cempo system to have
many features including quality construction and
energy efficiency that earns the title of
The building system of the
FUTURE.

The Logical Choice
Cempo is one of the most versatile
building products being used today. With the
ease of cutting (cuts with a hand or chain saw),
the ability to shape round openings, build in
curved walls, bullnose by hand with a rasp, and
the simplicity with which it is erected (without
additional formwork), allows Cempo to be
utilized in almost any building project. From a
simple single story home to a complex multistory
commercial building. If the project can be
designed with wood frame, steel frame, standard
CMU block, or tilt-up construction, the project
can be designed using the Cempo Building
system. Due to the uniqueness of each project,
the rebar size and spacing is determined by a
structural engineer.
Fire Resistance
The Cempo system is very effective
in areas where a high fire resistance may be
required. The fire resistance, along with its
sound absorption, makes Cempo a natural
for multi-family projects.
Insulating Qualities
Cempo is one of the most energy efficient
building systems on the market today. This
translates into years of lower energy usage and
cash savings.
Sound Qualities
The Cempo system has exceptional sound
absorbing qualities. The interiors of your new
Cempo structure are nearly impervious to
airborne sound, and will be shielded from most
outside noise. Cempo is very effective when
creating sound resistant rooms such as Theater
Rooms, Sound Studios, or Media Rooms.
Construction
Fast, Easy and Economical
The Cempo systems simplicity and
flexibility allows even the first time builder
to work with confidence. All of these
additional features help make Cempo the
logical choice.

Other Qualities
· Cempo
can be easily shaped or scribe fitted to any
irregular surface such as rocks or logs.
· Leftover or
cutoff pieces can be utilized in a number of
economical ways such as architectural detailing,
insulating concrete slabs in place of gravel for
below grade drainage fill and in the top of a
wall where concrete pressure is minimal. Scrap
pieces can be recycled back into new Cempo
product.
· The exterior
can be quickly finished with a single or double
stucco coat - no mesh or lathing required.
· On the
interior walls, a single or double coat of
plaster works well.
· When sheetrock
is desired, no framing strips are required for
the installation - simply apply with
approximately 6 square inches of joint compound
per square foot of wall.
· Furring strips
are easily attached to the surface or embedded
flush with the wall, for mounting various
sidings, cabinets, trim, and heavy artwork,
· Holes, dings
and dents are easily patched with plaster, foam,
stucco or shaped Cempo pieces.
· Below grade
basement walls can be built in less than half
the time it takes to form, reinforce, brace,
pour, strip and insulate a conventional basement
wall.
· Cempo
creates an undesirable atmosphere for rodents
and insects. The concrete grout placed in the
channels penetrates the porous Cempo
surface fusing the two materials together and
eliminating any channels rodents, termites and
other insects could use for migration and
nesting. |
